Featuring special guest speakers - Anna Campbell and Yvonne Lindsay!
Australian Anna Campbell was a double RITA finalist in 2008 and has won numerous awards for her emotional, passionate historical romance. She finalled in the RWA R*BY Award in 2008 and 2009. Her current release CAPTIVE OF SIN was chosen as one of the 100 best books of 2009 by Publishers Weekly and TEMPT THE DEVIL is a finalist in the 2009 Romantic Times Reviewers Choice Awards.

Anna’s next release is MY RECKLESS SURRENDER in June 2010. Her short story “Upon a Midnight Clear” appears in THE MAMMOTH BOOK OF REGENCY ROMANCE, also June 2010. Anna lives on Queensland's Sunshine Coast and she loves to travel. For more information on Anna and her books, please visit her website.
Yvonne Lindsay made her first sale to New York publisher Silhouette Desire in April 2005 after 13 years of submissions and rejections from publishers in New York and London. She has now contracted sixteen titles with Silhouette Desire. A Borders Group Number One Bestseller and and 2007 R*BY nominee, at last count Yvonne's books had been distributed in 20 different countries and in almost as many languages. 


A long-time member of RWA and RWNZ, Yvonne believes deeply in the strength that comes from the support of her peers and in being involved in romance writing organisations. She can be contacted via her website.

Morning: Combined sessions -


From the Heart: A half hour session in which our two guest authors, Anna Campbell and Yvonne Lindsay will inspire and motivate with what romance means to them. Why romance? How did they get published? What made it finally happen? Hear how ordinary people with a dream to get published became best-selling authors and made that dream come true! 

Secrets of a Best-Selling Romance: This two and a half hour workshop presented jointly by Anna Campbell and Yvonne Lindsay will take delegates on an intensive tour inside the romance industry and the books that sell. Learn the vital ingredients your book needs to attract an editor's eye and learn how to apply them to your work. Come prepared to work!

Afternoon: Attendees will elect which of the following sessions they wish to attend - 

Session One:   1:15pm (A or B)

A: Make Your Characters Real - Yvonne Lindsay - 90 minutes                                   
From cardboard cut-out to first deep breath—One dimensional characters? Don’t believe character’s motivation? Characters all sound the same? If you think you don’t know your characters well enough, you’re probably right. In this interactive session, learn how to define what makes a character real to you and how to project that reality to your readers.

B: Writing the Historical Novel - Q&A panel featuring Anna Campbell and Elizabeth Rolls
Whether you like your romance dark or light, if swooning ladies and devilish rakes are your thing, then don't miss this fabulous session from two of Australia's leading historical romance authors. Coming from different sides of the publishing industry (Avon single title and Harlequin Historicals) what these two don't know about publishing historical romance isn't worth knowing!  


Session Two: 3:00 pm (C or D)

C: Emotional Punch - Anna Campbell  - 90 minutes                             
Ever had the dreaded 'lacks emotional punch' rejection letter? Ever wondered what emotional punch is and how do you get it? Multi award-winning historical romance author Anna Campbell will introduce you to a number of techniques to lift the emotional punch of your work using deep point of view. This fun hands-on workshop will make you think, will make you work and will help you lift your writing to that next stage towards publication.

Covering four of the bestselling Harlequin/Silhouette lines, every member of this panel has either been nominated for or won the prestigious Romance Writers of Australia Romantic Book of the Year Award! If you have a desire to be published in category fiction, sweet or sexy, then this is the panel for you.
