Fantastic news as Amy takes home the Adelaide Festival Award for Unpublished Manuscript. A big Yahoooooo from all of us SARAs. Some of us were lucky enough to cheer Amy on the day. And I mean cheer, none of this polite clapping for us :)

We are so proud of Amy & see a huge bright future for this SARA member. Well done.

The Adelaide Festival Awards for Literature site has a little blurb:

Amy T. Matthews: End of the Night Girl
Two novels, each a compelling page-turner, combine teasingly in one in Amy Matthews’s End of the Night Girl. The author has carried off her risky venture with extraordinary skill, intelligence and assurance. Molly’s story, set in Adelaide and told in first person, is a sassy modern drama of a young woman’s search for purpose amid confused family, sexual and social relationships. The yarn is often funny, but is poignant in its depths. Under Molly’s pen emerges, jigsaw-like, the third-person, Holocaust story of Gienia, a murdered young Polish Jewish woman who may or may not be fictional. Part of the pleasure of Amy Matthews’s knowing text is her mastery, and subversion, of genre storytelling, creating a fresh experience for readers.

Oh what a week we had in Brisbane. On Thursday, Elizabeth Rolls was on the panel at the Heart & Craft book launch. Congratulations.

The fab Trish Morey won the R*BY for the Short - Sexy category!!! Woohoo!!
Not only that but she was made a Honorary Lifetime Member of RWA.

Elizabeth Rolls & Claire Baxter were also R*BY finalists.

Tess LeSue came second in the STALI competition and won the Anna Campbell prize. As well as winning the Crab prize at the Friday workshop.

SARA members were asked for partials to send to agent/editors. So good news all round.

We also donated a prize to the Pink Sunday Lunch, raising money for Breast Cancer. We were delighted when we found out our donation would be considered the 2nd prize of the raffle. We are so honoured to have been a part of it. Thank you to SARA member Dianne, who suggested we collate a gift basket for the conference.

Congrats everyone. Thanks for making it a great weekend.
